The
Dolphin by Phoebe Bakewell (aged 8)The
dolphin is as blue as the sea The dolphin is so playful Looking for prey
through the sea As he rolls along the ocean he touches the rocks Swimming
quickly along As fast as the current of the wave Wet like a pool of water He
makes graceful sounds to his friends His eyes are as black as pen ink His
hunger chases him He dashes through the water like he has somewhere to go.
My Winter Morning by
Jessica Whiteley (aged 8) It
was so quiet that I saw the sun gazing like the moon and all around was like a
large white box covered in snow. It was so rough that I could see my hand rubbing
against the fence giving me splinters from the wood. It was so noisy that the
wind was racing in and out of my ear and the tree blowing like a tornado. It
was so peaceful that I saw a slope going down to the flat with the lovely sky
like the sea. Angel
Cake by Madhumanti Dey (aged 8) I
think angel cakes Taste good But I haven't ever tasted one. If
I had The problem of my boring old oatmeal Would be solved and done. I
would feel heavenly, like an angel That I don't have to eat That same sliced
bagel. But it's
not just about breakfast It's about something else too It would be
. A
dream come true. Recipe
for a Dragon by Kimberley Cota (aged 8) Capture
breath as fiery as flames burning from a volcano. Peel the scales from a vicious,
angry serpent that has just killed an intruder. Steal a heart as humble and
vicious as lightening to enemies that approach. Add the wings caught from of
a gigantic alien that fly up and spread out. Grab a tail that flips, curls
and swats from the core of a burning sun. Sharpen claws, turned spikey and
metal, stolen from a lion that roars. Add a head, burning from a bull dunked
in thrashing larva. Press on eyes dazzling like sparklers on bonfire night.
Place on the prickling ears of a monster straining to hear his victims. Throw
round flames that are whirling and dancing like fireworks. Paint with colours
purple, red and green, mixed like dripping paint. Screw down two spikes to
the head, rounded like elephants' tusks. Stir on a cool day or hot summer's
eve, Then mash the spare body parts together like crushed biscuits. Let
him go free to gallop and fly. Let him rest in a cave, with the close of an
eye. Winter
by Billy Simmons It
was so still that I heard the thundery snowclouds whip against the pollard
trees. The twirling wind made a massive snow storm. It was so peaceful
that the crumbly snow made people fall down hills. Freezing cold leaves
made hands freeze. It was so silent that the trees stood like statues. It
was so silent that the crumbly snow in my hand was so soft that it was like
sand. It was so calm that the trees stood like statues in front of the
thundery clouds. The
Lion by Joshua Drake The
lion hurtles rapidly Looking for prey to ambush, He targets his prey before
chasing it. He watches carefully before taking off like a rocket He sneaks
up on prey while it's not looking, He keeps his eye on prey while dashing. Never
gives up when prey gets away He makes his prey surrender before kills, He
whacks his teeth against prey to kill. Once his prey is dead he eats My
Dog Scamp by Michelle Cobbledick (aged 12) My
dog's name was Scamp He even bounced on the tramp He died on my Birthday I
knew it wasn't a happy day We buried him with a rose so he is still
living And me? I still water it with a hose The
Wolf by Lani Bakewell (aged 9) The
wolf's great growl as she ambushes her prey Jet black fur and focused eyes Jagged
teeth in the cold black forest Her bristly hairs as sharp as her razor claws Her
dribbling tongue and sharp pointed muzzle Gnashing jaws as sharp as a blade She
never gives up Pounce! She attacks The life of the fox is gone Frozen
Days by Harry Duffield (aged 8)
It was so peaceful that I heard Silky snow crunch when we walked over it. Bluely
black sky darkened, the sun broke through. It was so quiet that I felt my
frozen hands shaking on the iced hills. It was so still that I listened
to my heart beating while the trees swayed slowly. It was so silent that
I heard the wind blow the snow like an eagle swooping down on its prey. The
Eagle by Diane Clark The
eagle's eager eyes focus, feeling confident he glides, with eyes locked
on target, gliding through the trees he's challenged, his dark feathers
darken the sky, pointy beak as sharp as a knife, glaring in the distance
he shoots down, the prey is dead in seconds. The
Husky by Lily GoodChild (aged 9) The
husky's jet black fur Deep growls as it seizes its prey Coal black wood
where it lives An underground den The wild animal scanned As his bright
ears hear Its prey The husky has bursting white fur like Glittering
snowflakes The animal's strong grip feet As it walks on the white Platform
razor sharp jaws As pointy as the blade Of a knife It never gives up
It pounced out and eats it all up The
Bengal Tiger by Reuel Igbokwe (aged 8) The
Bengal Tiger logs onto its victims Camouflaging itself it launches like a racing
car Targeting its victim it jumps out of nowhere Its killer sharp fangs
devour its victim The Bengal Tiger is victorious. One
Windy Day by Aidan Shote (aged 9)
One
windy day there were trees There were trees dropping leaves like bombs With
the wind whispering in my ears and a bird Flying fast as lightning With
its head straight and wings back like A long spear The
King Cobra by Georgie Furze (aged 8)
The
king cobra brilliantly slithers As if it was like an ice cube on a hill, Weeping
through millions of microscopic grains of sand, Wiry stringy body, Sun blazes
like a fiery meatball, It hisses violently like the rapid engine of sports
car, Skidding as it locks its head in to position, Desperate to eat in the
deserted desert, It ambushes its prey and dislocates its jaws, It slithers
silently as it sheds its soft scaly skin, It shows its razor colossal jaws, It
kills in a second and in seconds it has done its work.
The
Silent Poem by Lani Bakewell (aged 9) It
was so motionless I could see the clouds slowly move across The shallow
snow It was so calm I could see the sun shrouded beneath the clouds With
the dazzling light beams shining On the swaying trees It was so peaceful I
could feel the snow slugging on my boots It was so tranquil I could see
the trees like galloping horses Clouds like flying dementors
The
Leopard by Hermione Gallagher (aged 8)
The leopard stares
at its prey His vicious teeth targeting food The leopard's roar sounds as
loud as an elephant stamping His sharp canines chewing on its prey He
quickly sprints ahead in the peachy sky He runs before its death. The
Komodo Dragon by Billy Simmons The
Komodo dragon's venomous tongue and spit are dangerous. Largely he walks along
the path Sensing his prey. His bladed teeth are invisible. No animal
could take this beast. He is a walking giant. The rocky terrain is like
the America sky lands. Deep and frightful. Its prey surrenders. He is
deadly. The
Cheetah by Jessica Whiteley (aged 8) The
Cheetah is staring at his prey, The Cheetah is as fast as a rocket, He sprints
because he's eager for his food, He's as loud as a sports car's violent engine, His
claws are like daggers. Leopard
by Aidan Shote (aged 9)
The leopard charges its prey Eager to have its lunch on that very day Eyes
locked on its target to get its prey Blazing hot sun slowing its prey Blurred
grass. The leopard is ready to jump And catch its prey Rips into the
body The prey surrenders The game is all over and the leopard Rips into
its prey
Winter Wave by
Aidan Shote (aged 9) It was so calm you could hear the gentle
snow falling on to the ground with the trees swaying in the air. It
was so quiet you could hear birds jumping in the fresh snow while they were
singing like angels. It was so silent that the sun went cold and the
snow went thick. Frozen Icy Days by
Reuel Igbokwe It
was so silent that I heard trees whisper to one another like talking trees.
It was peaceful that I heard trees removing Their crackly leaves.
It was so quiet that I heard trees whisper to each other saying, Look he
is coming. It was so calm that I could see the dark clouds as a cloak
looming against the blazing sun. Updated

Shoe Mouse by Prabhjot Singh (aged 11) All
alone in the house the shoe was home of the mouse. In the night it's cozy, but
the day makes it lousy. No
cats come, no dogs chase, but the mouse rests in his place. He often brings
some food, but the shoe makes it tasty and good. The
mouse now lives jolly good in the grand lorry hood. The shoe adds to his
glory, And this house makes his story. And

Monster by Ellie
Rice (aged 9) He
is as fat as a cat, Because all he eats is sweets And different kind of
meats. Tuesday he had cheese and onion crisps And told his mum he had nothing
to eat So he got a treat. Wednesday he sneakily got crisps again, cheese
and onion yet again, He got that flavour but I don't know why. His mum
got Quavers, His friend gave him a fright late that night But at least
he wasn't a bird They moved out because of him. A

like a bumpy tree A nose like a pointy ice cream cone A mouth like an evil
witch And arms like a flat book. My
monster is as friendly as a friend As clever as a scientist As loud as a
giant As smelly as a pair of dirty underpants And as frightening as a zombie. The
Night Before Halloween by Adam Thompson (aged

big scream, I found him hiding in the fridge, A bird came to see him scream
in the middle of a good dream But once again it was the smoky dain, For

gave me such a fright Because he is as big as a fatiphant, He smells of
dog droppings, He is as sticky as goo, He jumps like a bunny hopping, When
he jumps in poo. My Favourite Monster by
Olivia Smith (aged 8) and Lilly Webster (aged 9) Of
all the mad monsters my favourite By far is my pet monster Poppy Who I
found hiding in a car. She
was wet and damp And tied to the seat So we paired her up Me and my
fellow flat mate. We
live in a flat not far from were we found Poppy. She
is as yellow as the sun And as purple as a plum And has a big bum. She
is as cute as Olivia And as silly as Lily And as fab as Frankie. She
is as clever as my teacher And as hot as a fire in a beaney. Frightening
Monsters by Emily Roberts (aged 9) It

I peed Monster by
Frankie Lamb (aged 9) It
was a snowy night, And my monster had a big fright, He saw tiny mini mice, He
was watching them eating rice, Although you would think, He would not jump
in a sink, But he did, Plus he was acting like a kid.
He was still
on the sink he got off, And all the mice ran off. He was trying to catch
them, But they climbed up a stem, He turned to me and I gave him a name, I
called him Crying Cane. So my monster is as whiney as a little baby. He
met his old friend called Mr Nabey. Monster by
Jack Stokes (aged 8) Of

he can grow big and small. Mad Monster by
Louis Barrow (aged 8) Of

is as funny as a clown and he is happy and helpful and he never feels
down. Monster
by Owen Morrisey (aged 9) My
monster is as smelly as a skunk But be careful what you say Because he
turned into a monk And I sunk Into depression.
One day I saw my
Monster's girlfriend at night And it gave me a fright It was a rare sight
And he was a bit bare,
Monster is as ugly as a star nose mole Even
though he doesn't dig a hole. My monster wanted to go to the moon And he
looked like a loon And then he ate a spoon. He
dyed his fur and hair orange And he looked like an Orang-utan And then
he went into a volcano
But somebody said Are you sure you want to
do that? And I was thinking, Say no But he said yes and it took him into
a land And there was a lot of sand He found a key Then he went for
wee Now you see It took him to his world far, far away! I shouldn't
say stuff like that Because he might haunt me. The
Biscuit Eating Monster by Sophie Fisher (aged
8) One
dark night I saw a monster And it gave me a fright. I was as spiky as
a hedgehog, Also I was as smelly as a dump, My name is Henry, But people
call me Hairy Henry, My
monster is as brown as a Gruffilo, And hairy also soft like a teddy bear, Sometimes
I swim but when I do I get, very angry like a bear, My manky monster Is
as hot as a volcano, But when I get cold I am as cold as an iceberg. What
me and my monster Love most of all Is watching each other eat biscuits.

Great Escape by Jake (aged 11)
I
walk out the door and up the drive Ready to go to school then I freeze;
I slowly turn round and realise to my horror That the door is open!
I
drop all my bags and sprint towards the door I see a wet black wrinkly nose
being pushed around the door
Then
it retracts and A brown hairy blur shoots up the drive towards me. When
it sees me it freezes It gives me the 'butter wouldn't melt' look Ha, it
can't get me with that one
It
paws the ground like an angry bull It charges and takes a flying leap! I
throw myself to intercept it And Miss completely.
It
lands neatly a couple of metres away It looks at me with pity then trots off. I
trudge back to the house Stealing myself for a ten minute verbal beating. My

all I did was shout OUCH!!! Then I sat on the couch. My
tooth fell out yesterday and I got £2. She wasn't mean and you know
how I know? Well its because it was my MUM!!!!! Hundreds
and Thousands by Lara (aged 10)
Millions
plus billions can equal trillions, But hundreds and thousands are different. They
can be sprinkled on a cake, Beside you while you bake, Or just alone In
the cupboard On the shelf. Lonely Lonely Lonely. Lonelier than
if you were alone in a field, Lonelier than if you were the only one to show
up for a football match, Lonelier than if you were the only one inside your
house. But on the other side They're happy being sprinkled on cakes, They're
happy in the cupboard With their food friends! Gremlin

While
I was watching TV the power was cut off I just went to turn it back on when
I slipped and fell into a dark land full of gremlins The only thing I could
see was bright orange gremlins jumping up and down And when I looked into
their eyes I realized they didn't have any! Then I saw a door I gingerly
walked through it I could see gremlins as black as coal wearing lab coats with grey
hair With gigantic glasses now I am really worried. Best

friend is smart and funny, My friend's as sweet as honey, I'm glad I've
got a friend so true. She finds fun round each bend and corner, Another
reason I adore her, And once you know her you'll be glad you do.

The Scary
Halloween Shack by Aiyana Urja Minocha
(six and a half)
It was Halloween and I met a fairy who was
quite contrary, She took me to a place which was very,,very scary. She left
me in a dense forest with ghosts everywhere, They gave me a really big scare.
Suddenly there came a witch who gave me an ear twitch. We had a dreadful
feast which I couldn't stand the least. She gave me an epic to read so that
her magic spell could succeed. For the witch, things were going well.
She almost had me in her spell. By chance I saw a feather lying by, I
tickled her nose so she started to cry. I told the broomstick to make her
fly high. I was free!! And shouted with glee! The witch screeched, "why,
oh why, oh why?!?!?!?!?!?!" From then I kept a track never to come
back! To that scary creepy Halloween shack. Our

the Moose by Lauren Anderson (aged 10) On
a Sunday afternoon, after church was done, I was riding my bike, in the warm
summer sun. My mom came out the front door and said to me, "Ella
I'm going shopping, won't you come with me?" I put my bike away and
got in the car, Then we drove to a town that wasn't very far. When
we arrived I saw a huge, giant store, With a big bright sign that said, Toys,
Toys Galore I asked my mom if we could go in there, She looked up
at the sky and twirled her hair. Finally she made a decision, and said
yes. I hugged her and said, "Mom your the best!" What did
we see when we walked through the front door? But board games, and dolls, and
a basketball hoop that kept score! I suddenly looked at something dark
brown, I got on my hands and knees on the ground. It was a stuffed
animal moose! Sitting next to a stuffed animal goose. My mom said,
"Sure I'll buy it for you." Since it was only three fifty two.
On the way home in the car, I made a list of names so far. I made
up names because on the nametag it said Bruce, And I didn't think it was a
fitting name for a moose. Georgia,
Jenna, Nebraska, Hazel, Amy, and Alaska. That's it! Her name should be Alaska!
Alaska was with me day and night, Playing superman with me, or a pilot
in flight. One warm summer day in the sun, Alaska and I were having
great fun. My mom came out the front door with crackers and cheese, And
said, "Will you eat them with me pretty please?" She talked
while ate, "Honey, I know you and Alaska's friendship is really great."
"Yes!" I said really speedy, And then my mom said, "I think
it is time to give her to the needy." I said, "No, no, no with
haste! I would rather have my mouth glued shut with paste." "Ella
I know you don't want to." She said all nice and sweet, "But, I have
an idea that's neat." "What is it?" I said it brighter
this time. She said, "We put our address on the tag, Four four four four
Cherry Lime." "We'll ask them to send us a letter back, And
we'll stick it on our bulletin board with a tack." And so, Ella
agreed, And Alaska went around the world with Children in Need. She
went to Maria in Nigeria, And to Jonathan in Switzerland. But, don't
forget Millie in Chile. The letters kept coming year by year, And each
of them reminded Ella of Alaska's great cheer. Updated

Shadow by Ellie Bond (aged 10) My
shadow is a silly thing that follows me everywhere I look around and there
it is, I look again it's still there My shadow makes me think about my
friends Following me everywhere And in the park I rush to the swing,
my shadow does too I play hide and seek but I always find my shadow first My
friends ask me round to tea, I say no I can't, I have got to play with my shadow
At bed time when I read my book I always see my shadow taking a look I
love my shadow copying me but sometimes I have a sneaky peak at his. Then
in my dream I am scared but I always have my shadow prepared For my scary dreams
and happy dreams. I wonder what my shadow does when I am in bed I don't
think he is a sleepy head. But I love my shadow the way he is The
Impressionist by Nanthu Gk He
sways his mouth, he swings his hand. Many
would remember a puppet show. His
booming voice loud and clear decorated
with high and low pitches. Dressed
smart with polished shoes, the
tie adds to the glamour. What
he teaches is hard to erase be
it a lesson or advice. He
makes us laugh, he makes us cry the
happy remains while sad flies away. His
high demeanour stays with us even
after school, throughout our life. My
English teacher you may never know but
there is no doubt he
is the best teacher I ever had. Updated

by Janaki O'Callaghan (aged 8)
Dolphins
swim here and there, Dolphins swim everywhere. Some
are tall some are small, Some even play with a bouncy ball.
Dolphins
are warm-blooded, aren't we all? And the way they communicate, what a lovely
call.
Sometimes they jump, some times they splash, But into each other
they never crash.
Their tricks are amazing because they rehearse, When
I see them I think what a wonderful universe!

Winter Fire by Danielle. J. Holland (aged
10) The fire slowly glows Then rapidly fiery rings burn
huge holes in the paper And the coal inside shoots up into flames And the
grey gloomy smoke goes up the chimney The fire backs down and hides under the
coal The paper is now in shreds And with more paper and coal it will soon
start again Spicy
Ice Cream World by Jordan Whelan (aged 10) I
fell through a freezer on my way to school And found myself in a land full
of ice creams. Some of them were spicy, Some of them were sour, A few
of them were salty but most of them were sprinkly. I saw a mermaid looking
flake shimmering murky curry sauce river Whilst steel guitars played blind-man's
bluff with custard pies. I don't think I was quite asleep but it's so hard
to believe for nothing is quite what it seems in the land called Spicy Ice
Cream World. Fantastic

Volcano by Thomas Startup (aged 10) I
am the strongest volcano ever formed, My tears are the big rocky pots of bubbling
fiery hot lava, The quickly launched ash is my red hot hair, My eyes are
the enormous boulders on the side of my rocky body, My breath is the black-out
dust and ash cloud falling and spreading and destroying millions of innocent lives, Prepare
to burn, for my heat is irresistible! My arms are the sticks and twigs native
Americans throw at me so that I don't destroy them! My legs are just the rock
at the bottom of my hard rocky base, Prepare to be burnt, for my lava tears
of lava are scolding hot, Please do not under-estimate me because i will
destroy you. Prepare to burn, for my heat is irresistible! Nanny
Nu Nu by Joe Humphries On
my way to football I fell into my football boots, And found myself in a land
of sweet houses and liquorice trees that walk. I saw a marshmallow train
run over a helpless gummy bear I saw a strawberry dog bite a jelly baby postman. I
saw a dolly mixture gang whipping the Haribo kid with liquorice string I saw
a flying saucer hitting a chocolate monkey. Chocolate
by Rizwan Sadiq (aged 10) I
fell through an ancient shotgun on my way home, I found myself in a land full
of chocolate guns, birds and houses. Some were rusty, Some were chocolate
wool, but most of them were red. The birds were rapidly sprinting across the
chocolate surface. The guns were swiftly gliding across the chocolate air. The
houses were gingerly marching across bumpy chocolate. I didn't think I was
dead but it was extremely exhausting to come back to life. The

Room Poem by Sophie Carter (aged 10) I
fell through a book on my way to bed. I got up and I saw hundreds of angry
teachers glaring at me and mumbling. Some of them where red teachers and
some of them where fat teachers but most where nice and helpful teachers. I
saw a green pen in an green hand, while the blue teachers played sevens with
the dictionaries. I could smell the coffee from the other side of the book. I
could taste the black coal dust of the chalk board. I heard my name being called
and all of a sudden I was in my bed... Leaf
Trap by Luke Stemp (aged 10) I
fell through a leaf trap on my way to football club and found myself in a marvellous
land full of gummy bears. Some of them were massive and some of them were
colourful And some of them were bright. Then I saw bacon shimmering in
the colourful red sky While I played blind-man's buff with footballs Then
I started to run through the jungle And monkeys were following me everywhere
And I fell through the leaf trap again and found myself on the football pitch.
Death Comes by
Liam Robertson (aged 10) Darkness
closes in on me. Death comes. Death comes. I wail out But no one
is left to hear my agonized cries. It engulfs me like a shadow in the night. I
see his dark hooded face, Shadowed by his black-hearted hunger. He's coming
for me ... Strange
Day by Lauren Hocking (aged 10) I
fell through a mirror on my way to school, And found myself in a land that
was full of bubble gums. Some of them were fish-shaped and some were pig-shaped, A
few of them were curry flavoured but most of them were chilli flavoured, I
saw the fish-shaped shimmering in the murky mud, While the pig-shaped ones
were playing blind-man's bluff with square-shaped Bubble gum, I don't think
I was dreaming but it was so hard to believe, For nothing is quite what it
seems in the land of bubble dreams. The
Magpie's Cloud by Jessica Leigh (aged 10) On
the way to the park, I saw one magpie, as I got closer, The magpie grew bigger,
and wouldn't stop, Until it was the size of a full-grown Labrador, But before
I could take one more step, I got gobbled up, without being chewed (thankfully!) I
soon woke up and found myself floating, On a green, fluffy cloud, surrounded
by magpies! Some
magpies were slim, some were fat, some looked evil, But most of them were strolling
around on one leg, Eating a packet of jelly babies! I
didn't know were I was, or how I got there, But one thing I did know, everything
is strange ,on the magpie's cloud! The
Slush Puppy Land by Callum Pulham (aged 10) I
fell through a black hole on my way to school And I found myself in a land
fall of slush puppies Some of them were red and blue But most of them
were multi coloured And put together I saw an enormous one shimmering
in the murky floors While slush puppies played blind-man's bluff with drinking different. Death
by Caitlyn Towsey (aged 10) Death
came lonely to the grave yard. Slowly lifting his grinning face. Waiting
to suck all the red juicy blood out of the dead person. Death did not talk
in case he woke the people up in the house right next to the dark, scared,
lonely grave yard... Then just as Death finished sucking all the blood out
it was morning and Death very, very gingerly and as speedily as he could, disappeared

fell through a freezer on my way to school And found myself in a land of Harribo
Mix Some of the were chewy some of them were spicy A few of them were salty
but most of them were juicy I saw a gummy bear floating in a river of jelly
