The Darkest Dragon's Hour by Olivia Stokes (aged 10)

It was a dark cold stormy night.
You hear my sleeping you hear my fright!
My presence is silent, my presence is DARK!

I am dark.
I am fearless.
I have fists of water hitting the clouds or punching the raindrops.
Beating on my chest.

My powers are amazing, my powers are bright.
Nobody sleeps when I sleep
but when I awake my paranormal side shall GLOW!

Dragon in My Pocket by Olivia Heckford (aged 10)

I carry a dragon,
In my pocket.
He is the secret,
In my pocket.
He protects me,
In times of trouble.
He strengthens me,
In times of need.
He comforts me,
In times of sorrow.
He senses enemies ,
Just feel his rage
If I lost him,
My world would go silent

The Wise Dragon by Lucy Luikinga (aged 10)

His green piercing eyes held secrets of lost years,
A heavy ancient heart held countless tears,
His skin was wrinkled parchment from a thousand years ago,
He is a wisdom tree that knows the truth of how the earth did grow.

Wings like cloth sails from Tudor time,
Once tantalising claws now filled with grime,
But his spikes still as sharp as smashed glass!
He lies on decaying grass, waiting for time to pass.

Slowly up he goes,
Flying into a deep sapphire sky of woes,
Soaring over many lands,
Stopping here and there, making dragon errands.

Slowly he flies like a steam train,
Silently flapping through pouring rain,
After devouring a macabre meal,
It comes back home, to its cave next to the perilous sea of teal.

He curls into a impenetrable mass of stone,
And drifts off to sleep into his murkily dismal home,
He won't wake for a thousand years...
So his heart doesn't hear any more fears.

Eye of The Dragon by Patrick Moriarty (aged 10)

Darkness is coming,
Darkness is night,
And as he opens,
You might hear fright.

Wings of Thunder,
Eyes of Flame,
Don't open your eyes,
He'll know your name.

PLEASE GO!
PLEASE GO!
There's no point,
He already Knows.

Boiling like Lava,
Boiling like MAD!
Please don't touch me,
He already had.

Teeth like Knives,
Claws like Swords,
Please don't hurt me,
I'll show you some more.

Don't turn your back on me,
Don't fly away,
There's only one thing,
DON'T! Say my name!

Lost Pal by Sneha Chatterjee (aged 17)

You've got the rarest Himalayan wings,
Tail as long as wind,
Glossy emerald porcupine crowns
Fire in your breathe,
Warmth in your company.

Once upon a time when I was a morning soul
You helped me escape these grey sour walls
And gave wings to my verses.

Volcano was your bed,
And sea your favorite bath tub!
Horizon once got jealous of you
As you lifted me high
Crossing all hundred skies
And flew too close to the stars.

You taught me how to dream
And paint rainbows into my soul
You were fearless flawless limitless
Yet the world called you
A " social outcast"
Just because you never spoke human words.

But one dark day
When I grew up to realize
That I can't locate heaven in a million maps
Misty clouds of Mr. Doubt
Kidnapped you forever.

The soul-less world calls you a "myth"
As if you never existed
They say you're just a dragon
Trying to mess up my mind,
But I'll never listen to those charlatans!
You'll always be my best buddy
I still cry hoping you'll come back
To melt away my cold solitude
And complete my unfinished tale.

The Best of the Rest

The First Dragon by Maddy Coombs (aged 10)

T'was a dark day, a dark night,
When the very first dragon took flight.

He was bad, he was evil,
He scorched the skies, terrifying people.

The dragon killed with no mercy
Blood all over, making him dirty.

His breath smelled like rotten flesh,
Ripped from bones to make a mess.

His many scars remind of pain,
Fighting death with no shame.

His claws were sharp, as sharp as knives,
And just one hit could take out lives.

T'was a dark day, a dark night,
When the very first dragon took flight.

The Broken Hearted Dragon by Chloe Ashton-Rogers (aged 10)

The dragon so ferocious he terrifies people away,
His blazing scales are stars cut from the sky above,
He terrifies while people lay in bed though he sleeps all through the day,
He always fights and spills others' blood of course, that's what he loves.

His shrieking call is heard around, all the way from the ground.
He can be seen in the sky,
His blazing fire while he flies.

His ruby horns make people scarce
Of course they give you an unexpected scare,
His burning fire as bright as can be,
As soon as you see the glow his enemies flee.

In his murky cave lives skulls and bones which lay upon his Dragon throne,
He lays asleep still as still some think he's dead, some ill.

As he flies he misses his love, that's why he spills so much blood,
As he flies far and near cautiously he sheds a tear.

Beauty, My Dragon by Ellie Novakovic (aged 10)

A secret small stranger,
Who flutters and spies,
She watches over girls and boys,
With her, kind loving eyes.

She carries a spellbound locket,
Which she uses to sprinkle love.
Her scale's the colours of the rainbow.
She can soar like a dove.

She has yellow eyes,
That glow like the sun.
She has purple hair,
and wears it in a bun.

Her tail sweeps in the air
Like a brush,
Left to right it reaches a great height,
Even if she is in a rush.

The Dragon, My Enemy by Aminah Ibrahim (aged 10)

I watched in terror as it dropped dead onto the red sand
I tried to stop them but I couldn't move, my whole body was frozen
The dragon found where I was hiding
Then started shooting fiery red balls at me
My father jumped to save me but fell to the ground
His last words were, "My little girl you must be brave slay the dragon."
I ran with nothing in hand but an axe and…

Dragon by Joseph Linnett (aged 10)

My dragon has his own secret underground world.
Where he goes to take captured enemies.
And can hide undetected.

He is like a sky scraper with wings like tables.
Tail as sharp as sword.
So bad tempered he will explode.

Chest like steel at an endless dawn.
Anxiously looking down at his prey dying on the floor.
Before he eats them for dinner.

Sapphira by Eleanor Wise (aged 10)

She was a killing machine,
Vicious, proud and mean,
With powerful, fatal jaws,
And stinging claws,
Deep violet eyes,
Swooping down, searching the skies,
For food to eat,
Oh, what a treat,
To find tasty piece of meat.

Hunting all night long,
Singing the dragon's song,
Setting alight,
Houses and people alike,
Filling the dark night,
With screams of fright,
Devouring the world at her will,
Making her tasty kill,
Setting the world at a terrifying stand-still.

Friendly But Sharp Dragon by Charlie Novakovic (aged 10)

Twist and spin in the light.
Dragon come, my guiding night.
Oh come here, oh dragon, in the shining light, always
In the light, never the night.
He behaves like water. Beautiful.

He is a star, he is a rainbow, that is how he eats.
He eats like a pig, no he doesn't, he eats like a butterfly,
No he doesn't, he eats like me!
He eats like a heart, he eats like glory.

His tail is as colourful as a rainbow.
His wing were shining, shimmering, like a star in the light.
His teeth were dark like the night.
His claws were sharp like the knives

HE IS THE DRAGON AND NO ONE ELSE!!!!!!

Dragon by Megan Rose Pickford (aged 11)

One day, one night,
Come now, come tonight,
Sleeping, snoring,
Cites falling,

Two heads,
Twice the height,
Two bodies,
Twice the fight,

He scuttles around,
Never lost, never found,
You will never find him,
Unless he is on the volcanoes rim.

The Fiery Dragon Son by Aiyana Urja Minocha (aged 6 and a half)

There was a big dragon who shot fire like a gun,
For him this was for fun and to stun,
He had a young son who loved to eat jam on bun,
Fire he could not breathe as his Dad would desire,
Feeling very sad he wondered who he could hire.

Son goes to a wizard who has a magical lizard.
One flick of its tongue and the spell would be done,
Next morning started the fun,
The little one spat fire on anyone,

People around began to scream and run,
Dad said, "Sacred of you is everyone!
Well done, Son, you are now Number One!!!"

The Dragon (no name - but have emailed the boy/girl)
Terrifying, huge sharp teeth
dripping with blood in the moonlight.
Two huge gleaming eyes shining
in the night looking for something to kill!

The nasty, scratchy claws
tearing away at a freshly killed body.
His firy tail whipping silently behind him in the sky

his terrible wings darkly hovering
over his body, barely moving
as the always hungry dragon is looking out
for the next prey to kill!

The reptiles skin scales
each of them is the size of a man
reflecting the pale moonlight so I can see
these scales are razor-blade sharp on the dragons back!
