The Discovering Poetry Project is a creative writing multimedia website that combines audio/visual digital presentations and printed worksheets to encourage and help children write poems about their own experiences of everyday life. The site is targeted at Primary 3-7 and is intended to provide a valuable resource to those responsible for teaching poetry in community workshops, at home and in the primary classroom. The website features a series of printable worksheets and an extensive Teacher Resource Section. It gives teachers a chance to work with a specially trained team of poets. It also provides lessons plans, information about poets and lots more besides. www.poetryclass.net Special Needs Family Friendly Fun is a site dedicated to children with disablilities of all kinds. Its aim is to enhance the quality and enjoyment of life for families with special needs. This is a large and comprehensive site and definitely worth a look. Visit them in the interviews section or visit the poetry links page - More Poetry Sites. Teaching Times is an excellent on-line source educational news. http://www.teachingtimes.com/ Teaching Ideas have lots of worksheets. A good site but you'll need to be able to open pdf files. http://www.teachingideas.com e-books at http://www.e-booksforschools.co.uk Interesting - with a variety of teaching books. Not a great deal of choice, though. http://www.educate.org.uk An excellent site and definitely worth a visit. A wide selection of resources - although a bit thin on poetry.
