Halloween Night by Abbie Vosper (aged 10)

You know what night it is
When the steel gates go creak and wooden doors go bang
A howl of a crying wolf is heard
And a cold breeze runs through the graveyards
You know what night it is

Clownstrophobia by Antonia Rios (aged 11)

Their BIG round and scary noses
Are like party balloons
Full of blood and intestines
Squishing all inside it

Those stupid little eyes
Like a disfigured dancing doll
Ugly painted faces
NOT like a Barbie at all

Their wigs are in fire
Growing out of his skull
Stretching every time higher
He's always trying to look funny…
But he really scares me to death!

Visible by Sapphire Hughes (aged 12)

I have a past, one that many would not like to hear
How I became a ghost, and why sometimes it's no good to face your fears
It had never crossed my mind; what it would feel like to be dead
My death was marked suspicious, many rumours were said
For many years I strolled the streets, searching for a home
People, innocent and good wouldn't take me in, so the world was there to roam
As giving up was beginning to be my only choice, I found a settling place
But the location was dark and hiding, it held no form of human race
And there I have stayed ever since, as a smoky, floating soul
I wished to escape this world, but I knew I couldn't reach my goal
On the night of October 31st, my world came to life
The young and the old would knock for treats, calling on the local husband and his wife
And although my house was forbidden, it was the route of every teenage dare
Parents begged their children to steer clear, their hearts full of worry and despair
My home was decrepid and crumbling, the ideal horror set
Drunks stagger through the gates, only to run out with a face which is a whiter shade of pale
Featuring a creaky door and stairs that really wailed, this was a monster that would never fail
Forever it will be the same, always guiding people away
I wish that one day, somebody will stay.

The Stare by Olivé Rix (aged 12)

The stare
don't try to move
don't try to breathe
don't try to blink
He is there
Lurking in the shadows
He will hear you
Don't try to hide
your in his sight
Don't cry for help
His hands with smother your calls
Don't try to run
He has you
He's got you now.

My Nightmare by José Miguel Rawlins (aged 11)

The light is dying,
Dankness has thrown his heavy cloak
Don't go to bed,
Because the dark room may haunt you.

You know what they say,
Don't tell me that you forgot,
Okay, I'll warn you again,
The dark room may haunt you.

You stand in a room,
Four doors by your side,
In complete darkness and silence,
Because the dark room may haunt you.

Shadows loom,
You are frozen,
Because a horror may enter,
And the dark room may haunt you.

They will chase you,
Enjoying every bit,
Like cats hungrily chasing mice,
The dark room may haunt you.

But I hope it doesn't,
And you sleep in peace,
Take my warning,
Because the dark room will haunt you!

Alone by Jacob Ergas

I'm alone in a dark dim room,
Like a miner trapped in a cave.
The door, it creeeeeks open.
Shadows moving and lurking in the dark.
The wind blowing outside like a hurricane.
Roughly through the trees.
One fell over me and I can't move.

Crrasssssssshhhhh!
The window breaks

The laughing of the clouds,
The trembling of thunder.
Shelves shouting with terror.
Then I reach for the light,
I turn it on.
Then I realize,
I'm alone, I'm alone
I'm alone, I'm alone.

Halloween by Antonia Figueroa (aged 11)

It was dark in the night, and I was just having a Halloween time
with my bag full of candies I was having such much fun
then I went home, I went to sleep and there is when I realized
THERE WAS A MONSTER UNDER MY BED!

I heard a squeak, and then a squawk
but over all of that I heard the screeching of my door
I turned around and there was nothing at all, that's when
I thought this was all sort of a joke but there is when no this is not.

I tried to sleep again, but I just couldn't
so I tried again, and I just looked under my bed

There were such scary creatures, there was something green,
and something blue but the most scary creature was the one,
with teeth and claws! I was so terrified that I turned on the lights
and then I realized that there were just my cute little fingers
TOYS!!!

Scary Nights by Sparkle (aged 7)

Sometimes at night when sleep won't come,
I hear strange noises that make my flesh numb.
The elevators moving up and down,
It's the sound of an evil wicked clown.
Creeping closer towards my bed but I know it's only in my head.

The curtains flapping everywhere,
An actual ghost is floating in the air.
Creeping closer towards my bed
But I only know that it's in my head.

The cars are zooming on the road,
It's a yeti dressed in ragged clothes.
Creeping closer towards my bed
but I only know that it's in my head.

There is an owl hooting in the haunted garden,
It's a gruesome werewolf gnawing at the traffic warden.
But I only know that it is in my head, I only know that it is in my head.
but the nasties are nudging towards my bed,
they thrive in the dark, velvety black,
But they'll disappear in daylight's crack.
They will shiver and sigh, fading away as they wither and die.
But they're waiting to pounce they're waiting to bite.

Quickly, quickly turn on the light!

Something Waiting For Me by Valentina Clark Lahore

It was late,
Like 9 o' clock pm
And my mom came
And said, "Go to bed!"

I needed to cross that dark corridor
To get to my frightening room
Like a deep, dark cave
I close my eyes
And I feel shadows behind me.

It was only one step
To get to the ancient door,
When I open the door
The screeching of the floor went on
Like a very old door.

When I was inside my room
There was something that wanted to eat me,
But don't worry,
Cause I am happy living in his belly.

Reflected Fears by Jesús Melo

Mirrors copy us,
You've gotta watch out for them,
If you don't be careful,
They will turn your mind,
Into a useless piece of meat.

Mirrors copy us,
Don't look them in the eye,
If you see them in their reflected eyes,
You will enter another world,
Where glassy horrors,
Hunt you.

Full of pain and fear,
Of vane people that did the same,
That's all that you will find,
In the mirrors that copies us,

It gives you a horrible feeling,
Like needles around your body,
With their little sharp tips,
Digging into your meat.

Mirrors copy us,
You've gotta watch out for it,
If you don't be careful,
They will make you,
Their reflected slave.

Sounds by David Weinstien

There's a tap, tap, tap
On the window pane
He's trying to get in
A mad man, he's insane

Scuttle, scuttle, scuttle
Eight gigantic legs
Crawling across my toes
Sneaking in my bed

Wheeze, rattle, moan
They are coming for my brain
There's a zombie in my home
Now I think I'm going insane

The Monster Dentist by Lily Jackson

In the torture room
He sits, he waits
No effort he makes
To lure children into
His sterile den.

His mouth is masked
Underneath he hides
His perfectly white sharpened fangs.

Stretch 'n' snap
Stretch 'n' snap
Open wide, say ahhhhh…!!!

Then he rips my teeth
With his
Metallic
Terrifying torture tools.

I can feel my sweat
Trickling passed my eyes and cheeks
Falling slowly onto my lips
Droplets of fear.

THE STAIRS BY DANIELA MELLA

CLIMBING UP THE STAIRS …
I WAS TREMBLING IN HORROR
I SAW SHADOWS BEHIND ME
I SAW A HORRIBLE CLOWN LOOKING AT ME
I SAW THE PETRIFYING TREES MOVING OUT THE WINDOW…

CREEPING UP THE STAIRS …
I WAS SHOCKED BY THE HORRORS
MY HEART WAS THUMPING
I HEARD STEPS BEHIND ME
I HEARD THE CREAK OF THE WOOD
I HEARD THE HOWLING OF THE DOGS OUTSIDE

CRAWLING UP THE STAIRS …
I WAS AS PALE AS A GHOST
I FELT SWEAT TRICKLING DOWN MY FACE
SHALLOW BREATHING
SOMETHING WAS WAITING FOR ME UPSTAIRS
SOMTHING WAS GRABBING ME …

FINALLY I THOUGHT I WAS SAFE IN MY BEDROOM
BUT WHEN I TURN ON THE LIGHT I REALIZED I WAS
INSIDE THE STOMACH OF THE THING THAT GRABBED ME…

Schoolostre
by Rive Alina (aged 11)

In the park lives a monster
And his name is Schoolostre.
He likes teachers,
But doesn't like other creatures.

There is a thing
Which the monster is, I think,
Afraid of very vastly.
He can't stand pupils laughing!

The monster has friends.
They like a terrible rat!
Their names are Horror and Terror
They don't like children's error.

They are afraid of
Children's laughing too.
They are very bad
And they are very fat!

Ted by Merkushenkova Irina

Ted was sitting at home,
Reading horror all alone.
He just started the first tome,
And he wanted to read long.

Suddenly the strong wind flew,
And appeared angry Who,
And he cried aloud, "Boo!"
Teddy thought, "Is it true?"

"I came to you," said angry Who,
"And I want to scare you!
And I want to frighten you!
By the way, my name is Who!"

"My name is Ted, I'm not afraid.
And to be honest, you look weird!
You're not fearful at all.
You're podgy, cute, not tall."

"I had never had a friend,"
Said new Teddy's buddy sad,
"Maybe we'll be friends with you?"
"Yes, of course! I want it too!"
